SETUP EXISTING SERVICE - RESIDENTIAL

Existing service is defined as an existing service location that has been active (ELECTRICITY ON)

within the last year.

 

If the service has been off for more than a year it will require a "Reconnection inspection" by the State Electrical Inspector. Once inspection documents have been received to our office will be allowed to turn on service.

 Pay As You Go Service is available for new Service Customers as well. $65.00 to begin service($25 deposit and $40 dollars of electric credit on account.)

  • ​Proof of Ownership or Lease Agreement from Landlord/Executor of Estate Paperwork-Death Certificate

SETUP EXISTING - COMMERCIAL

An existing service is defined as an existing service location that has been active(Electricity On) within the last year.

 

If the service has been off for more than a year, or BCES believes the service is unsafe, it will require a "Reconnection Inspection" by the State Electrical Inspector. Once documents have been received by our office will BCES be allowed to turn on service.

 

A load sheet  must be completed so BCES can determine the proper equipment is in place to serve your needed capacity.

$2.70 ID Verification Fee (if no active service currently with BCES)

SETUP NEW SERVICE (NO ELECTRIC PRESENT)

Prior to purchasing property In Benton County, TN it is very important to consult with BCES to ensure electric service can be run to that location.

Benton County Electric System can provide electric service to any customer in Benton County; however, if lines need to be extended to serve this particular customer, then the process below will be followed and any charges and fees paid in full prior to construction beginning for new service installation.  

We will explain this process below and provide references to service policies and cost for guidelines.

Final Steps after charges and fees to add on the prospective customer have been identified they will be returned to the Customer Service Representatives. At this point, the customer must come to the office to pay all charges associated with construction and service setup fees.  If you are not able to come to the office, please contact 731-584-8251 to set up alternate arrangements.

  • To ensure your services are activated, these steps must be completed.

  • The customer must show proof of a sewer permit before an electrical inspection can be completed unless it is an RV. If in the city limits verification of city sewer hook-up.

  • Sewer Permits can be purchased at the Benton County Health Department located on 225 Hospital Drive, Camden, TN, 731-584-4539

  • All fees must be paid in full before service will be constructed and connected.

  • All Inspections Passed

SERVICE SPECS AND CODE REQUIREMENTS

BCES ensures compliance with State and National Electric Code.

 

An existing service that has not been utilized in 1 year requires a "Reconnection Inspection" by the State Electrical Inspector. Please see setting up our existing service section for more information.

 

Please see the following reference sheets for the new approved electric service installation. The service must pass inspection prior to BCES providing service. These reference sheets are also available for pickup at our main office location

Any underground primary turns shall be rigid 90-degree sweeps.
